Education at The Points

Tree-Planting at The PointsThe Arboretum provides enormous scope for practical activities that can be tied into educational programs. These programs can assist in the preservation and enhancement of the Arboretum and its Botanical Collections and the management of areas of significant remnant groundflora vegetation. The sustained restoration and maintenance of ecosystems, the creation of habitat corridors, the rehabilitation of degraded natural areas and the protection of threatened environments are other priority considerations in these programs.

Horticultural courses are tailored to meet environmental and sustainable outcomes. The Friends of The Peter Francis Points Arboretum believe there to be considerable potential, using the Arboretum as the base, to deliver accredited training programs in Environmental studies. These studies not only inform course participants, but also meet on-ground outcomes that better the environment.

Qualified professional teaching staff are at our disposal as are guest presenters who deliver seminars in the field of their expertise.

Many school groups access us as an eco-excursion destination, and we offer guided activity for these groups.

We have also offered training to Green Corp volunteers through the Australian Trust for Conservation Volunteers - Certificate II Land Conservation & Restoration accredited training.
